Hello, Movie Mavens! Welcome back to the B Movies Blog. Today, we’re popping a cheesy Valentine’s Day letter into the ol’ VCR.
Since we’re officially bringing Valentine’s Day into the B Movies fold, I thought it deserved its own cheesy letter this year.
We’ve touched on this in other pieces, but Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holidays because KP always made sure my sister and I knew how much she loved us.
There wasn’t a day that went by where I didn’t think my mother loved me.
Was my mother perfect? No, she wasn’t.
But she was the best mom I could’ve possibly asked for, and she taught my sister and me to love ourselves and not to base our happiness on our relationship status.
That’s why I love Valentine’s Day.
To me, it isn’t a holiday of romantic love but a day to celebrate love of all kinds, be it platonic, romantic, self, etc…
However, I know there are times when you may not love the skin you’re in; I’ve been there, believe me.
I know there are times when you get lonely or wish you had a partner to share the workload.
I know there are times when you wish you could reach out to a loved one who isn’t there.
I get why Valentine’s Day is hard for some people, so I’m not here to force celebrating on anyone.
So, here’s what I’ll say:
If you don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day proper, do something nice for yourself.
Go for a walk. Take a hot shower. Listen to your favorite album.
Even if you can only give yourself 10-15 minutes, take it.
Do something to show yourself some love today because I’m here to tell you that you deserve self-love.
I know that it can be really hard to believe that sometimes, but I promise that you’re allowed to love yourself, even on days you think you’re not worthy or capable of it.
I love you, Movie Mavens.
Happy Valentine’s Day. 🖤
