Hello, Movie Mavens! Welcome back to the B Movies Blog. Today, we’re popping some of my favorite neighbor horror movies into the ol’ VCR.
I’m one of those people who doesn’t go out of my way to know my neighbors.
I don’t go to community events where I live, nor do I frequent the pool in the summer.
Don’t get me wrong—I’m friendly enough.
I say hello and make small talk.
I pet their dogs.
I respond to my next-door neighbor whenever she texts me.
However, I don’t go around introducing myself when someone moves in because I sometimes get nervous and/or overwhelmed in social settings.
I’ve also seen one too many horror movies, which brings us to today’s piece.
Smooth segue, right?
As always, I have a few disclaimers.
First and foremost, could it be argued that a few of these movies are either a) remakes or b) heavily inspired by Rear Window?
Totally! But, media influences other media, so just roll with it.
Secondly, I know the specific action of the neighbor(s) varies from movie to movie, but my thought process is/was that the overarching theme is “evil neighbors.”
Lastly, I left The Last House on the Left (1972) out because I’ve always mixed feelings about it.
But, that does remind me to tell y’all to be sure to research these movies before watching them and/or to have a trusted person watch them first.
Some of the CW/TWs for these movies include murder (including children), homophobia, SA/r*pe, and all like topics.
Please take care of yourselves and never feel obligated to watch any of the movies I recommend if they’re going to hurt you in any way. 🖤
Alrighty, that should do us for introductions and disclaimers.
Without further ado, here are 10 of my favorite neighbor horror movies:
