Hello, Movie Mavens! Welcome back to the B Movies Blog. Today, we’re popping the work of Michelle Trachtenberg into the ol’ VCR.
On October 11, 1985, Michelle Trachtenberg was born.
She and her family lived in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn for the first few years of her life before moving to L.A.
Michelle Trachtenberg’s career started with commercial work before she landed roles in The Adventures of Pete & Pete and All My Children.
In 1997, she booked her first starring movie role in the film adaptation of Harriet the Spy with roles in Can’t Be Heaven and Inspector Gadget following closely behind.
From there, Michelle Trachtenberg went on to star in Buffy the Vampire Slayer as Dawn Summers, “sister” to the Slayer herself, while also appearing in movies like Eurotrip and shows like Six Feet Under.
Over the years, Michelle Trachtenberg would go on to play iconic roles in shows like Gossip Girl, music videos like Fall Out Boy’s “This Ain’t a Scene, It’s an Arms Race,” and movies like the 2006 remake of Black Christmas.
Tragically, Michelle Trachtenberg passed away at the age of 39 on February 26th.
If you don’t know, Harriet the Spy is one of the reasons I wanted to become a writer.
The Adventures of Pete & Pete is one of my favorite shows of all time.
Needless to say, I grew up watching Michelle Trachtenberg.
From Truth or Scare to 17 Again, and Figure It Out to House, I was always happy to see her on the screen.
I can’t imagine how much her death has impacted her loved ones, and my thoughts are truly with them.
Michelle, thank you. 🖤
